Christianshavn

The vibrant area of Christianshavn displays a special mixture of old-world Copenhagen charm and new impulses and flavours. Beautiful, relaxing yet trendy. This atmosphere is created by the wide variety of people who live and work around the delightful canals. Christianshavn has a bit of everything. Ministries and art schools live door to door with free-thinkers in a part of town that offers you delicious restaurants, cafes and traditional Danish pubs. You can visit the Danish Architecture Centre for a substantial brunch or Nordatlantens Brygge that houses the world’s best restaurant: Noma.

Christianshavn is famous for being home to the Christiania free state that, in addition to representing alternative lifestyles, also invented the ever-popular Christiania bike. Beautiful embankments stretching from Islands Brygge to the Opera surround this area and are a perfect place to take a walk or run. Copenhagen’s numerous and impressive towers can be admired from the beautifully renovated Vor Frelsers Kirke - a church centrally located in Christianshavn.
